Gator Speedway 11/25/2001

I needed to test out my Pilot today(as well as my back!) so we headed up the road to Willis, TX to the Gator Speedway MX track(http://www.gatorspeedway.net/). I of course get stung by a bee in the palm of my hand the moment I get out of the truck and discover a piece of re-bar lodged in the trailer tire. I patch the tire and my hand (not in that order...) and we head off onto the track. The place is very twisty and no real straights, all tabletops or "safe" jumps. We terrorize the place for a while and here comes the owner, waving me off the track...oh-oh, now what did I do? He actually just wanted to invite us to drive on the speedway track :-) Yeeehaaa! We head over and do our best NASCAR impressions for a few laps and head back to the MX for left and right turns as well as jumps. I discovered two things: Pilots are much wider than any quads out on the track, no side by side racing for us, and 2: my Pilot is a gas guzzler! The full throttle or full brake routine drained my tank in about 30 mins! Wow! Maybe a big bore won't be in the works...

Thanks to the great folks at Gator Speedway MX for having us and providing a great track for the community.
Neither Lisa or I crashed or broke the machines so it was a good day, off to Ryan's Steakhouse to recharge and back home we went...
